Jakarta — On 2 May 2025, the Badan Kejuruan Kimia Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (BKK PII) convened its second Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in the lead‑up to the Annual Meeting 2025. The event, held at PHE Tower Floor 15, Jakarta, took place under the theme: “Implementation of CCU/CCS/CCUS Technology for a Sustainable Oil & Gas Industry in Indonesia.”
The FGD brought together stakeholders from government, industry, academia and professional engineering associations to define strategic recommendations to accelerate the deployment of Carbon Capture Utilization (CCU), Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technologies in Indonesia’s energy sector.
A highlight of the session was the presentation by PT Algatek Karbon Nusantara, whose innovative CCU technology converts industrial CO₂ into economically‑valuable biomass, contributing to the circular carbon economy. This solution was showcased by President Commissioner Ria Kusuma Dewi and recognized as a compelling case in the transition to low‑carbon industry.
By fostering a collaborative ecosystem through this FGD series, BKK PII aims to strengthen policies, regulatory frameworks and cross‑sector partnerships that will drive Indonesia’s energy transition agenda forward. The recommendations from this FGD will feed into the Annual Meeting scheduled for later in the year.
