PLN Teams Up with Startups to Boost Clean Energy and Carbon Capture
PLN Startup Day 2025 brought together 63 energy startups to support Indonesia’s energy transition. PLN Nusadaya and Algatek Karbon Nusantara partnered to develop carbon capture, biomass, and algae-based products. Algatek’s technology turns power plant emissions into feedstock for green hydrogen, a clean fuel alternative.
Implementation of Carbon Capture Utilization Technology Accelerates Oil and Gas Energy Transition
The Chemical Vocational Board of the Indonesian Engineers Association BKKPII – Badan Kejuruan Kimia Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia held a second FGD in the framework of the Annual Meeting of BKK PII 2025 in Jakarta on May 2, with the theme “Implementation of CCU/CCS/CCUS Technology for a Sustainable Oil and Gas Industry in Indonesia.”
One of the innovations highlighted is the CCU technology from PT Algatek Karbon Nusantara, which converts industrial CO₂ into biomass of economic value, supporting the circular carbon economy presented by our commissioner Ria Kusuma Dewi. This FGD aims to formulate strategic recommendations to strengthen policies and accelerate the adoption of CCU/CCS/CCUS technology. This activity also builds a collaborative ecosystem to support the national energy transition.
Efforts in Rehabilitating Former Mining Ponds
Efforts to rehabilitate former tin mine ponds are considered a solution so that the land can recover and be economically beneficial to the community. So far, former mining excavations have often been abandoned into puddles and cause environmental degradation. Initiatives to manage former mining land this year were launched Ikanesia Nusantara Akuamarin Berikan Protein Initiative the same as GoTo Impact Foundation, a non-profit organization of the GoTo Group. The former mining pond or called “kulong” on Bitung Island was rehabilitated into a freshwater fish cultivation pond. The restoration of the former tin mine pond is in Air Seruk Village, Sijuk District, Belitung Regency.
Algatek as part of the consortium supports Ikanesia Nusantara Akuamarin and Berikanesia Lestari in realizing Environmental and Sustainabiblity through microalgae technology so that the kulong ex tin mine can be preserved into productive fish pondsk here to change this text.
